National School Choice Week events across the country highlight benefits of school choice options

WASHINGTON – PublicSchoolOptions.org (PSO) families and students will join with thousands of school choice advocates across the country this week to celebrate National School Choice Week, an annual, week-long celebration of the diverse education options that benefit families and students.

PublicSchoolOptions.org is a national alliance of parents that supports and defends parents’ rights to access the best public school options for their children. PublicSchoolOptions.org supports the creation of public school options, including charter schools, online schools, magnet schools, open enrollment policies and other innovative education programs. Additionally, PSO advocates for equal access without restrictions to these public schools for all children, regardless of their zip code or how much money their parents make.

National School Choice Week started in 2011 and is now the world’s largest annual celebration of opportunity in education. Over the past seven years, there have been more than 58,000 National School Choice Week events planned across the country and around the world.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM THE PUBLICSCHOOLOPTIONS.ORG NATIONAL PARENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

“We are proud to join with thousands of students, families and teachers across the country to celebrate National School Choice Week and the many opportunities choice provides. At PSO we believe trusting parents with their children’s education decisions should be the norm and it’s what we fight for every day. By joining with fellow advocates across the country this week, we hope lawmakers and education officials will be reminded and persuaded to establish policies that put even more trust in parents. It’s time to trust parents and to make sure every child has access to the educational option that works best for them.”
