It is with great pleasure that we honor an individual whose tireless dedication and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the landscape of education advocacy. On behalf of the PSO National Board, I am pleased to present Traci Woodard with the prestigious Lori Cooney Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional leadership and mentorship in championing school choice.

In a contentious, late-night session on Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Arizona state legislature finally passed a bill (Senate Bill 1457) that allows remote testing for online students. Remote testing has been a top priority for our parent coalition, Arizona Parents for Education and now we await action by Governor Katie Hobbs.

Last month, Texas Parents for School Options held our first Parent Policy Summit just outside of Houston. Parent and student advocates joined us to learn about the landscape of virtual school policy in Texas, our goals for the 2025 legislative session, and how to effectively advocate with legislators.

The fight for fair and equal funding for Michigan’s online schools and students continues in Lansing, Michigan with a new crop of teachers, parents and students descending upon the state Capitol, meeting with lawmakers, and advocating for equitable funding in the face of proposed budget cuts from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
