Event in Montgomery will celebrate school choice options for students and familiesMONTGOMERY, Ala. – Tomorrow, the Alabama chapter of PublicSchoolOptions.org will co-sponsor a National School Choice Week rally in Montgomery to celebrate school choice and the options available to families in Alabama. The rally is expected to draw thousands of students and families from across Alabama who benefit from school choice options and to rally for tax credit scholarships and greater access to public charters. PublicSchoolOptions.org believes that every child, regardless of their zip code or how much money their parents make, deserves the best start in life. We firmly believe that begins with a parent’s ability to choose the school where their child will thrive — whether that’s in a traditional brick and mortar school, public virtual school, charter school, home school, or private school. Every child learns differently, even within the same family. Giving parents options so their child can succeed is critical.EVENT DETAILSNational School Choice Week RallyFriday, January 27, 2017Marriott Renaissance Conference Center201 Tallapoosa St.Montgomery, AL11:00 AM – 12:00 PMPublicSchoolOptions.org will participate in National School Choice Week events in Arkansas, Florida, Maine, Nevada, Texas, and Wyoming. STATEMENT FROM COLLEEN COOK, PUBLICSCHOOLOPTIONS.ORG BOARD MEMBER AND PARENT LEADER:“We are excited to join with thousands across the country to celebrate National School Choice Week and the incredible opportunities choice has provided for so many children and families in Alabama. Through our advocacy efforts across the country this week, we hope lawmakers and education officials will establish policies that put even more trust in parents and provide them a seat at the decision-making table. Every child deserves access to the educational option that works best for them.” ###PublicSchoolOptions.org is a national alliance of parents that supports and defends parents’ rights to access the best public school options for their children. The Coalition supports the creation of public school options, including charter schools, online schools, magnet schools, open enrollment policies and other innovative education programs. Additionally, we advocate for equal access without restrictions to these public schools for all children.
