Event will celebrate school choice options; connect families with legislators

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Next Tuesday, students and parents from across South Carolina will hold a school choice rally at the state house in Columbia. The event, hosted by the South Carolina chapter of PublicSchoolOptions.org, will bring together families that benefit from school choice, especially public virtual education. It will give them an opportunity to meet with legislators and share their personal stories about why school choice is important to their families.PublicSchoolOptions.org believes that every child, regardless of their zip code or how much money their parents make, deserves the best start in life. We firmly believe that begins with a parent’s ability to choose the school where their child will thrive — whether that’s in a traditional brick and mortar school, public virtual school, charter school, home school, or private school. Giving parents options so their child can succeed is critical.STATEMENT FROM AMY SCOTT, PRESIDENT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CHAPTER OFPUBLICSCHOOLOPTIONS.ORG: "We're looking forward to celebrating school choice at the State House next week. Parents like me know their children's unique strengths and weaknesses and being able to choose the school environment that works best for them allows those children to thrive in a way they never could have before. We want to thank our state legislators for trusting parents to make these decisions and urge them to continue providing options in education for South Carolina families."EVENT DETAILSPublicSchoolOptions.org South Carolina Day at the State House 2016Tuesday, April 19th9:30 a.m. South Carolina State House1100 Gervais StreetColumbia, SC PublicSchoolOptions.org will hold capitol day events across the country during state legislative sessions to celebrate school choice and urge lawmakers to expand choice for parents.PublicSchoolOptions.org is a national alliance of parents that supports and defends parents’ rights to access the best public school options for their children.
