By: Bethany WilliamsWhat makes a successful online student? Many people say that being an online student is easier than being a student in a traditional public school. But in reality, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. You have to be willing to put in the time and effort to hold yourself accountable. Since enrolling in Wyoming Virtual Academy, I’ve learned to be a more dependable and motivated person and, believe it or not, better with people!

I used to be nervous when speaking to new people, and would often sound or act nervously. But, since I started at WYVA, I’ve participated in whole-class read alouds, volunteer projects for my teachers, and my school’s Music Club (I’m now the President of it). I now can speak to people without sounding nervous – in fact, the last time I spoke in public, I received quite a few compliments. I couldn’t be happier with WYVA. My favorite part of taking online classes is how much I can learn! WYVA has an intense program, and is more difficult than most learning environments. My family is comprised of academically talented people, and WYVA’s challenging program was exactly what we were looking for. Now, when I think about going to college, instead of worrying that I won’t know enough, I worry that I don’t know what interests me the most. Online learning at WYVA isn’t easy, but it is well worth the effort. Over the next couple of days, you’ll have the chance to hear from my siblings, too!
