The Oklahoma Department of Education is considering a proposal that would require all alternative education programs to solely conduct attendance in-person.

When I made the decision to start online school, I had many worries: “How will I interact with other students?” “How will this affect how I learn?” “Will this be too much?” Three years later, I have no worries at all. I am very thankful for the choice to decide how I continue my education.

While it will of course vary by the individual, it is simply not true that we are always on the computer and/or don't get social interaction. Because of the flexibility of online learning, we can do a lot of different things outside of school and have a lot of in-person friends. Online learning offers the flexibility to tailor your education to your learning and lifestyle.

Stepping into my first public school, I was excited about the unknown, ready to learn, and ready to show the school who was boss. I knew I was going to do great in school, but what I didn’t know was that my older brother who is two grades ahead of me, was suffering in silence in the school. My brother was bullied just because he was unique, different, and highly intelligent.
